Song of Solomon
The Song of Solomon is Scripture’s great poem of love — a series of lyrical exchanges between a bridegroom and his bride that celebrate the beauty, longing, and delight of covenant marriage as God’s good gift. From the bride’s opening longing to the climactic declaration that “love is strong as death,” the Song honors the goodness of human love. Yet the church through the ages has also read it as a portrait and type of the greater love it foreshadows: the love of Christ the Bridegroom for his people — the bride he calls “altogether lovely” and delights to redeem.
