Jeremiah
Jeremiah prophesied for forty years through the final collapse of the kingdom of Judah, calling a hardened people to repentance even as he wept over their coming ruin. Sent “to pluck up and to break down… to build and to plant,” he confronts kings, priests, and false prophets, endures beatings, imprisonment, and a muddy cistern, and pours out his anguish in the most personal laments in the prophets — “a fire shut up in my bones.” Through sign-acts like the ruined loincloth, the potter’s wheel, and the bought field at Anathoth, he announces that Jerusalem will fall to Babylon, yet insists that judgment is not the last word: God will make “a new covenant… I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts.” Each chapter has a full deep study and a short summary handout.
